Up until 2012 Lee Fitzgerald were the master planners for the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB), mapping its development from a further education institute to its establishment as a fully fledged university with degree awarding facilities. Over a 10 year period the practice implemented a series of buildings alongside rationalisation of existing stock, to facilitate this change. The range of buildings included – Studio and teaching space, dedicated offices and administration buildings, Art workshops, Galleries and social spaces, student accommodation and commercial business start up units. The work at the AUB demonstrates the practices ability to develop tailored designs across a wide range of building types, maintaining a quality of design appropriate to both the budget and the aspirations of the client).
Lee Fitzgerald has also been active in Oxford since 2002, with 15 years continuous experience of working with the Colleges. The practice’s involvement began via an architectural competition at St Peter’s College and over time (through further competition success) we have worked at Wadham College, Brasenose College and New College. We are currently working on Aristotle House, a mixed use development for Wadham in North Oxford; New and upgraded library facilities for Brasenose as part of the Old Cloisters project and also on the Brasenose strategic master plan.
