Brailsford road is a speculative project comprising a small housing scheme coupled to artist’s studios on a site neighbouring Brockwell Park in London.
The scheme respects the scale, massing and borders of the existing terraced houses adjacent and maximises views over the park whilst at the same time providing ample privacy. In this way, a typical Victorian archetype has been reinvented to suite contemporary living patterns. The houses feature large kitchen-dining areas with direct access to the garden. The living rooms on the fi rst fl oor, overlook the garden. Each house has four good sized bedrooms with the master bedroom featuring views across the park. There is private parking to each house. The houses have been designed to make use of passive solar gain with solar panels and a super insulated structure. The scheme represents a commercially viable alternative to the lowest common denominator speculative design currently so prevalent.
