MASTER’S LODGINGS – CANAL HOUSE
Client: St Peter’s College, Oxford
Location: Oxford, UK
Completed: 2010
The Canal House refurbishment project was an interior design exercise to create a series of contemporary entertaining rooms as part of the new Master’s lodgings at St Peter’s College – all within the interior of a neo-Greek listed property.
The approach was to allow the fine austere architecture to create a backdrop for the viewing of contemporary furniture and artwork. All insertions have been treated as objects within a setting, thus avoiding any conflict of style whilst negating the need for period furnishings. In line with this approach the kitchen has been framed within the wall allowing the retention of the original room proportions without compromising utility.
